Outdoor Education opportunities for Schools

 

At source our staff have a deep knowledge and practical experience of working in the Scottish Education system from the 5 - 14 curriculum through to delivering to Undergraduate students.

 

Activities and Learning Outcomes


All our activities are chosen to be aligned with the learning outcomes as defined by the visiting teaching staff.

 

Example activities and potential outcomes could include:

 

Climbing - Responsibility and Trust
Canoeing - Co-operation and Communication
Hill walking - Strength of Character and Commitment
Kayaking - Independence and Interdependence

 

Activity options for all courses include: Abseiling, Climbing, Canoeing, Cycling, Gorge Walking, Kayaking, Mountain Walking, Orienteering, Problem Solving and Raft Building.

 

All based at our Residential Outdoor Centre in the Heart of Perthshire or at a location more suitable to yourselves.

 

We Specialise and Focus on a few areas of Primary and Secondary School Education


Accreditation


We believe in Achievement based Outdoor Education but are mindful that Accreditation is also of key importance. We offer bespoke courses covering Access to Advanced level SQA awards.

Previous courses have focussed on the SQA core skills (pre Oct 08) of:


Communication
Problem Solving
Working with Others

Alongside running Accreditation courses on the Residential experience.

 

 

Celebration of Achievement for P7


A programme of celebrating P7’s journey through primary school. Offering a 2, 3 or 5 day Outdoor Education Programme with activities such as Abseiling, Climbing, Canoeing, Cycling, Gorge Walking, Kayaking, Mountain Walking and Orienteering. Based at our outdoor centre in the heart of Perthshire.

 

 

Transition Support for S1’s.


To aid pupils in their transition to their new school. We offer a 2 day, 1 night Outdoor Education experience. This is aimed at a whole class of S1 to provide them with an opportunity for all to shine and create positive relationships with their peers and staff alike. This occurs through outdoor and residential experiences from activities through to domestic assistance.

 

Bespoke day courses for S1 to S3.

 

These course are run over 5 days over 5 weeks, starting on a Monday and each week changing day as to keep interruption to class’s at a minimum.


Previous topics have included:

 

Self Esteem and Self Confidence
Independence and Interdependence
Attendance and Support
Realising Potential / Overcoming Challenge

 

The programme involves four days (timings in keeping with school day) of activity followed by a final presentation day held in the school with staff, parents  and guardians invited to join us.

 

Three months later we offer a follow up day to re invigorate the student and refresh their learning.
